Have you ever experienced d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu ~ you know, when you instinctively feel that you have lived through something before; that you are experiencing something that you have already experienced?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the news first broke that Prince Harry was to marry Meghan Markle I, like so many other people, thought oh dear, it can only end in tears. Doubtlessly, the UK media and presumably others were of a different opinion, that it could only end in adverse publicity for the Royals, some extra pocket money and lotsa dough for the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the media\u2019s viewpoint not only would the inevitable break with the Royal Family make good copy, but it would also enable them ~ at least the dominant liberal faction of the press ~ to indulge themselves in their favourite preoccupation, which, when they are not sniping at Russia, is Royal Family bashing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in the days of Tony Blair, days which most old socialists can barely bring themselves to talk about ~ you don\u2019t broadcast it when you\u2019ve been had, do you? ~ their more limp-wristed colleagues in the liberal camp longed for the end of the monarchy, envisaging instead a new Federal era with Tony Blair as president. Ironically, most of those who had this nickel-plated dream are tarnished by the memory, which is why so many liberals hate our Tony\u2019s guts.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harry & Meghan the sad case of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I got into conversation about my d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu feeling with my old drinking partner Reggie Vallance from Shadwell in east London, known to his friends as \u2018Call Me Cynical\u2019, who has an opinion about everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conversation began with my remark about d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu in the context of the no-longer Royals, Harry and Meghan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell,\u201d says Call Me Cynical, \u201cit stands to reason dunnit. Think Princess Di and old Ken Doddy\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEr, no,\u201d I interrupted, \u201cYou’re confusing Dodi Fayed with Ken Dodd the English comedian.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStrewth, you\u2019re right,\u201d said Call Me Cynical, \u201cOne had way too much hair and teeth and was British and the other had way too much money, a good suntan and there weren\u2019t nothin\u2019 English about him at all. OK, I stand corrected. Now, where was I? Right, think of his nationality, think of his colour, think of the alleged reaction of the Royal Family, think of how this \u2018acquaintance\u2019\u201d ~ he said this last word slowly and with a certain emphasis ~ \u201ccompromised the Royals and then think of the reaction of the press? Got it? Well, there you are my son: no wonder when you think ‘arry and Mugup \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMeghan,\u201d I corrected him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWho\u201d he floundered, \u201cMeghan mugged Harry?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We seemed to have jumped a little here and were swinging about aimlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cListen Tarzan,\u201d I retorted, Cynical was a large lad, \u201cwhat\u2019s this got to do with \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTurn those bloody drums off! Sorry,\u201d Cynical resumed, \u201cI shouldn\u2019t have bought my boy those, the neighbours are terrified! Do you read Shakeshaft?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took me a moment. \u201cYou mean Shakespeare?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStop throwing that thing about! Sorry,\u201d Cynical apologised again, \u201cI brought the lad a spear for Christmas, and he will keep chuckin\u2019 it abart. I told him, it\u2019s a wall-angar!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wondered if his \u2018lad\u2019 understood him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe reason that I asked whether you read Shakespier is that if you do you would get to understand why you are suffering from a bout of the d\u00e9j\u00e0 vus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, Cynical was beginning to sound like my doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of Machiavellian stuff in Shakespier \u2026\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least he had got the Machiavellian right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026 and there\u2019s a lot of Machiavellian stuff goin\u2019 down \u2018ere with \u2018arrold and Megoff. Call me cynical, but Harry ain’t your proper Royal, is he? I mean look at him. His old mum, gord bless her, she weren\u2019t no proper Royal either. Neither of them could hack it! High society, the rigours of Royal life ~ you know what I mean, opening garden fetes in Surrey and what \u2018ave yu; \u2018arry just weren\u2019t cut out for it. He\u2019s more yu stay at home with his PlayStation type. I imagine that the nearest he got to being Royal was wearing a pair of monogrammed jim jams. Did I say that right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMonogrammed?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, jim jams ~ you wally! And did you ever take a good look at \u2018arry\u2019s shoulder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot really, I \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell had yu dun, you would \u2018ave seen a chip the size of Harrod\u2019s! The question is was \u2018arry waiting, brooding, biding ‘is time ~ waiting for the moment when he could get the Royal Family\u2019s leg up, as payback for the shabby way he believed his mother had been treated and was Meghim that moment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI mean, if anyone knows ‘arry’s weaknesses it stands to reason it would be ‘er, and she would also know that once she\u2019d got him by the \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNiagaras,\u201d I proffered, politely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeh, that\u2019s them. They would be in and out \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSteady!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c \u2026 in and out of the Royal Family faster than you can shout \u2018yo-yo\u2019. Now, it don\u2019t take a university degree in common sense \u2026”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGood,\u201d I thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026 to skip onto the next hopscotch square, if your British, and the next small boat in France if you\u2019re not, to work out the rest of the plot. Harry meets Meghan, is seduced by her sparkles, next thing you know it\u2019s the old horse and carriage, feet under Windsor Castle\u2019s dining table, up comes the winging and next they are doin\u2019 a bunk. Give it a month or two and then comes a touch of the Kinks \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSorry, you\u2019ve lost me,\u201d I interjected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026 you know, the Kink\u2019s ~ the lyrics, \u2018tellin\u2019 tales of drunkenness and cruelty\u2019, moaning on about the Royal Family, tellin\u2019 tales out of school, making themselves out to be victims \u2026 victims with a capital \u2018P\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t you mean \u2018V\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, I mean victims with a capital \u2018P\u2019 for Publicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCall me Cynical, but the liberal-lefty press loves this sort of thing, because once the race card has been played, they can follow suite, stirrin\u2019 up more division with loadsa articles and programmes on the telly about discrimination and all the usual old guff that most of the UK population don\u2019t listen to anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, where will it all end?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt won\u2019t end \u2018appilly for \u2018arry, and that is a fact! The public might be thick, or they might be overly sensitive, but the media will, and are, finding it difficult to pull the same scam twice. Oh, the liberal-lefty media will make much out of it, they always do, and they will use words like \u2018Outrage\u2019 in their headlines and exaggerate the number of Brits that see the world as they tar it, but they\u2019ve got off to a bad start anyway. Ninety percent of comments at the end of online articles and from Arsebook users show that \u2018arry and his paramount haven\u2019t got half as much of the sympathy vote as Di got, and most people are glad to see the back of them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, I don\u2019t much mind seeing the front of Sparkle, but call me cynical, what goes around comes around. In my mind, the discriminated duo is pullin\u2019 a fast one and like any drag-racing fan will tell you, once the flames and thunder have died away all that is left is the skidmarks!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLast word?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnderpants! Tell \u2018arry to buy some soon. He\u2019s goin\u2019 to need them on this roller coaster ride\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call Me Cynical pauses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt least they won\u2019t be on the tax-payers money!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
